Solitude - Styracosaurus by CraftyCreatures Solitude - Styracosaurus by CraftyCreatures
Hi everyone!

In this painting I tried to capture a single moment of a lone Styracosaurus pausing in the sunlight, perhaps soaking in its warmth. He could be an old animal, wandering alone or maybe an outcast. Or perhaps his herd is grazing in the forest behind him.

I'm trying to work on developing my paleoart and my style. I really want the pictures to capture a moment, no matter how boring or simple, in the lives of these magnificent creatures.

I feel I'm getting more comfortable with my crazy combo of abstraction and realism and hope it adds a fresh look to paleoart in general.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and thank you so much again for stopping by to look at my work.

Best - Angie

I really like this watercolor painting; however, I'm wondering what's with the blotches of spilled water color paint above the Styracosaurus's horn?

this has got to be one of the best pieces of paleoart I have seen so far. I love the colors, how you casually have the Styracosaurus at the back instead of focusing on it and nevertheless give it a lively apparence and the almost impressionistic quality of the vegetation.

Beautiful paleopainting. Styracosaurus is my favorite ceratopsian! This painting gives me a feeling of warmth as if i were standing next to him in the same sunlight.

I know it may sound a bit strange, but adding mushrooms on trees really makes the scene more realistic in my sense... haha well love the picture anyways, everyone else has pretty much summed up my opinion already.

Really? Wow, I've had a goal of trying for 50 pieces of paleo work. Both to improve on my style and that I was thinking I could make either a coffee table type art book or one mixed with sketches and things, like it was an art journal on a visit to the prehistoric past. Your comment encourages me! Thank you:) I've got 3 more paintings in the works (or at least sketched) now, a Lambeosaurus, a Stegosaurus and a Tenontosaurus. Plus lots of sketches trying to come up with ideas. Anyway, thank you so much you made my day :)

I just purchased Dinosaur Art: The World's Greatest Paleoart, and I was thinking your art would make a fantastic addition! I've noticed you like those Ornithischians, but aren't you just dying to try some Sauropods? :)

Awesome! I just bought that book as well and have been drooling over it for days now. I would absolutely love to have my art in a book like that! I'm flattered you would think my stuff would be good enough for it:)

Oh, yes, I'm a definate Ornithischian nerd, but I do have some sketches going of Sauropods. They have such weird dimensions its hard to come up with something interesting. I've got a couple I think may work. I also have others, even those Theropods;)

Now I'll have to get busy on them, you have me inspired. Thank you again for such compliments!

Thank you again for your compliments, its means a lot to hear that people are enjoying them:) Yeah, I do have my 3d work I should post in another folder on here. I'll get around to posting my personal 3d work soon, the professional stuff I leave off of most sites like DA so I avoid the inevitable questions that I can't answer due to contracts and I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings or come across as rude or something:) But I should post the stuff I do for my own demo reel:) Thank you again!
